today

Thursday, April 8th, 2010

Today I’m feeling grateful for, and enjoying:

* A stash of mom’s cooking in my freezer, thanks to her recent visit.

* The creamy blooms of Ice Follies daffodils bursting open.

* Another Mma Ramotswe novel on CD to make sorting teeny tiny beads by color a tad less tedious. Friendly, entertaining stories.

* Sunshine. Sunny days always feel better.

* Throughout the morning sparrows, goldfinches, a woodpecker, titmice, chickadees, a cardinal, and 4 fat squirrels at the birdfeeder.

* A magazine in the mail. Treat for a tea break.

* Iced tea.

After the monochrome season the sudden riot of spring color is outrageous.

And so very welcome.

Bird Hills park

Tuesday, April 6th, 2010

During my April Victorian confinement (think consumption, not pregnancy or madness) I’m walking Happy in some new parks to entertain us both.  This morning it was Bird Hills, which had a prescribed burn recently.  On the whole it all looked rather dreich, but on the margins there was new green coming up all over.

I’m grateful for paid time off, weather that matches my energy level today, and the woman with the giant huskies who compared Happy running free to a bunny rabbit.
