compassion is a verb
I’ve been saying a loving kindness meditation in the evenings. Sometimes it’s rote and I feel in a rush to “get through” the list of people I mean to pray for. Sometimes I’m suffering and can’t open up enough to say it for anyone except my poor self. Sometimes I can only say it for my dog. But I’m grateful for each moment of practice.
May we be filled with loving kindness.
May we be peaceful and at ease.
May we be happy.
May we be well.

Katy,
I felt so much better just reading that. Amazing!

I’m so glad Nan! Because that’s exactly how I felt typing it. A good reminder that sometimes relief is as close as a breath away.
It’s Jack Kornfield’s phrasing of the metta meditation, my favorite.
