grateful today

I live in a college town, where I tend to think a lot about the seamy underside of everything.  Because I work in violence prevention and mental health.  And because I hate football. (And, let’s be honest, because I’m the kind of person who needs a gratitude blog.)

But this fall I’ve been really enjoying a new feeling, that I get to live in a town where thousands of people are dedicated to teaching and learning.  Where we have these gorgeous halls built for studying new ideas and inventing new things.  Where I can imagine that I’m at Princeton with Michelle Obama or Oxford with Bertie Wooster.
