conditions that cause gratitude
Tuesday, March 29th, 2011I took a one week leave of absence from listening to the news recently, after the new war caused my brain to snap, crying and ranting uselessly at D. for 30 minutes and making us both miserable.
Ahhh…. sweet freedom. Today I choose to remember that news media derails my ability to notice and be grateful. I can still pray and hope and donate and organize and breathe, but I can’t seem to rant and be grateful.
I also enjoyed this article on Salon about the gentle benefits of not voicing every negative opinion or sarcastic thought that comes into my brain. Remember when the temple told us to not say anything about anyone who wasn’t in the room with us, positive or negative? Hah!
