conditions that cause gratitude

Tuesday, March 29th, 2011

I took a one week leave of absence from listening to the news recently, after the new war caused my brain to snap, crying and ranting uselessly at D. for 30 minutes and making us both miserable.

Ahhh…. sweet freedom. Today I choose to remember that news media derails my ability to notice and be grateful.  I can still pray and hope and donate and organize and breathe, but I can’t seem to rant and be grateful.

I also enjoyed this article on Salon about the gentle benefits of not voicing every negative opinion or sarcastic thought that comes into my brain. Remember when the temple told us to not say anything about anyone who wasn’t in the room with us, positive or negative? Hah!

four kitty pileup

Monday, March 21st, 2011

My photo software is fighting me so I am at this time unable to share with you an image of intense cuteness. My four kitties snuggling.

Two is good. Three is better. Four together is the snuggling holy grail that sends me running for my camera to share the joy.

I will post said picture as soon as technology allows…

the emotional rollercoaster

Hilarious depiction of the emotional roller coaster.

Also? I would pay a million dollars for the speed of this infant’s emotional resilience.

wild geese

Thursday, March 10th, 2011

I got gluten-ed at a restaurant last night.  The reason this is on my gratitude list is that I used to feel this lousy physically all the time, and now – never.

This morning I saw geese heading north.  Welcome back geese!

Happy ran away (chasing deer) but then she came back.

D. drove away, but Saturday he will come back.
